Description

COTRIM 50 combines Trimethoprim and Sulfadiazine Sodium, two antimicrobial agents that work synergistically to provide broad-spectrum antibacterial coverage.

Sulfadiazine Sodium inhibits the formation of dihydrofolic acid, while Trimethoprim blocks the conversion of dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid. By targeting two sequential steps in bacterial folic acid metabolism, the combination produces a highly effective bactericidal action.

This dual-action formulation is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and is commonly used in veterinary medicine for managing severe bacterial infections affecting multiple body systems.

Calves, sheep and goats

1 gram cotrim 50 wsp per16.5-33 kg body weight (15-30 mg/kg body wieght) for 3 days mixed with milk or milk replacer.

Poultry

Cotrim 50 wsp. 20-33 gm 100 liters of drinking water
(30-50mg/kg body weight) for 3-5 days.
Treatment: 1 gm in 4 liters of drinking water 3-5 days.
Prevention: 1 gm in 5 liters of drinking water 3-5 days.

Withdrawal times

Observe withdrawal periods as specified on the product label and local regulatory requirements.
